Morning – Wake up, scratch my head, done combing hair. Get out of bed don’t need to worry about clothes, have been wearing and sleeping in the same clothes for four days.
Go to the bathroom, make a mess. Mom loves cleaning up after me so I don’t want to disappoint her.
Go to the kitchen, eat cereal, spill milk, leave a mess. Mom loves this so much, she is always telling me how she is always cleaning up after me. Go to couch watch cartoons. Get up, go to the fridge open and stare. Nothing jumps out and feeds me, go back to the couch.
Later that morning – Look for cookies, none to be found, get bike and ride up to Eric’s house.
Walk into Eric’s house unannounced and find Eric eating, join him after staring in his fridge. Both leave a mess behind. Mom’s gotta love them.
Watch cartoons and play video games until Eric’s mom kicks us out.
Get on bikes and go to Andy’s house, see what he is eating. Make a bigger mess, Andy has cookies and Andy’s mom is out shopping so we are good for a while. Play video games.
Heat of the day. Get on bikes and ride around neighborhood. Pretend we are on space ships. Get into an argument.
“If Superman flew to the sun would he get a sunburn?”
A few minutes later aliens attack our space ships, (better known as our family dogs). We do battle, the aliens get tired of us and head to the lake to swim.
We argue about Superman – Eric and I say yes, Andy says no.
Lunch – Go back to my house, then to Eric’s and then to Andy’s to eat.
After eating we wait the hour needed to go to the pool. Which means we go home and change into our bathing suits. I ask my dad for $2.36 so I can get a grape soda and fizzy pops. He gives me $5 and wants the change back. Now I have a problem, responsibility for $2.64, which I hate. Why can’t he just give me the $2.36.
Mid afternoon – We meet at the pool.
Late in the afternoon – Still at the pool trying to drown each other. Then we get into an argument.
“If Superman and Aquaman where on a pirate ship who would the pirates want to be their friend?”
Girls look at us and giggle, I don’t understand what all the fuss is about girls.
We go to get fizzy pops and soda, I luck out – Eric doesn’t have any money so I loan him the change. Will tell dad that Eric owes him, responsibility taken care of, I can relax.
Much later in the afternoon – Head home get into another argument.
“If the pirate ship was captured by spacemen could Aquaman breathe in space?”
Make the rounds to see who is having the best dinner. Settle on Andy’s since his mom shopped and they are having burgers.
Evening – Get with the other kids, even the girls and play hide and seek throughout the neighborhood. The neighbors really enjoy us being in their bushes and back yards. We can tell because their dogs are always barking and they come to the window shaking their heads. Parents are weird that way.
Street lights start coming on, race my bike back home, drop it in the middle of the driveway. I don’t understand when I get up in the morning it is in the garage. The only thing I can figure is Spiderman must use it at night and doesn’t know to leave it in the driveway.
Upon entering the house, just as the streetlight goes on, I announce myself.
“I’m home.”
“Where have you been?” Mom asks.
I give the standard reply. “Nowhere.”
“Brush your teeth and get ready for bed,” She says. Our conversation for the day.
I brush my teeth for 15 seconds and jump into bed, wearing the same cloths for five days now. I think they have another couple more days in them before I need to change.
Night time – Aquaman could live on a space ship because they would have to have a big tank to float the pirate ship in. I have to remember this so I can tell Eric he is full of it. Not sure what he is full of, but dad says it all the time when he listens to the news.
Go to sleep, for tomorrow is another day.
